Zusammenfassung:Review of Advances in Personality Assessment (Vol. 10) edited by James N. Butcher and Charles D. Spielberger (see record 1995-97906-000). Volume 10 continues to reflect the vigor and creativity with which sophisticated conceptual and methodological tools are being brought to bear on the task of carving personality at its joints. As did earlier volumes, this final volume provides several valuable reviews of important topics that are not yet center stage but are beginning to assume greater prominence as the domain of personality research and assessment expands. The chapters deal with an approach to resolving the apparent incompatibility of idiographic and nomothetic approaches to personality, continuing new developments with the MMPI-2, measurement of alexithymia, relations between mood and personality, assessment of benefits of therapeutic community treatment of substance abusers, measurement of prosocial personality, and an examination of the susceptibility of the Rorschach. Like its predecessors, Volume 10 warrants close examination. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
