Zusammenfassung:The authors have brought children, parents, and the professionals involved with them a welcome resource. The book (see record 1999-02666-000) presents the experience of having attention deficit disorder (ADD) in an engaging and uplifting manner, and from a child's perspective. Reassuring, while remaining realistic, the authors succeed in both presenting pertinent information and capturing important feelings in a book designed for children. This book, although not a text, presents factual information for children five to nine years old. In attempting to deal with so wide an age range, the authors have structured the book so that it has wide appeal. On the other hand, this breadth of appeal also causes the book to suffer from inconsistencies in terms of concept difficulty. Some of the ideas are presented too simply, whereas others are in need of simplification. The tone of the book is perhaps its strongest asset. It presents useful information in an optimistic and encouraging context. The format of this book is a positive as well. Because the book is intended for children, the authors are careful about word choice and they attempt to explain all complex concepts. The text and pictures are well organized and work together to support the authors' ideas. The book uses lots of examples children can understand and to which they can relate.
