Zusammenfassung: | Reviews Treatment Planning for Person-Centered Care: The Road to Mental Health and Addiction Recovery by Neal Adams and Diane Grieder (2005; see record 2004-20907-000). The reviewer notes that given the necessity for quality individual treatment plans, Adams and Grieder offer the person-centered approach as a "process of using the service plan to build effective and collaborative healing partnerships with individuals and families in pursuit of resilience, wellness and recovery" (p. xv). Further, their objectives for writing this book include teaching students and experienced providers to develop person-centered plans and informing policymakers and administrators of changes that need to occur. Although they offer some useful information, there are four major flaws within the presentation of the theory and practice of person-centered treatment planning, including such weaknesses as the lack of empirical support and their failure to maintain organization. In summary, the reviewer concludes that Adams and Grieder have tried to present a new model of treatment planning. Although there are some strong components to the theory, such as the focus on the therapeutic alliance, there are major flaws in their presentation. They fail to provide references and empirical support for their ideas and seem to compromise scientific principles. The authors' presentation is disjointed and redundant, resulting in a text that is difficult for both experienced professionals and psychology students to use.
