Review of Crisis: Prevention and Response in the Community edited by Ronald H. Hanson, Norman A. Wieseler, and K. Charlie Lakin (see record 2003-02857-000). In the edited book, Crisis: Prevention and Response in the Community, Hanson, Wieseler, and Lakin provide a very nice overview of the problems facing service providers for persons with severe mental illness/ behavior and developmental disabilities. The unique contribution of this text is its ability to provide an inclusive view of community needs and services through review: historical perspective (Part 1), current statewide systems (Part 2), and potential solutions (Part 3). Given this depth of information, the book is well suited for use in a university course regarding developing systems and perspectives.
