Zusammenfassung:Introduction Retrieval and formation of autobiographical memories (AM) incorporates both semantic (context free general knowledge) and episodic (multisensory, and context-specific) memory and relies on the integration of cognitive processes, including mental imagery, emotion, and executive functions. Conclusions Our findings support the hypothesis that frontopolar and ventromedial prefrontal regions, and portions of parietal cortices, are critical for the retrieval of autobiographical memory.
