Zusammenfassung:Classic focal laser photocoagulation is still a procedure advised as a treatment option in macular edema present in conditions such as diabetic macular edema and macular edema secondary to retinal vein occlusion. The most important ophthalmological guidelines include that procedure as an option of treatment. However, in era of anti‐VEGF drugs, the indications for laser treatment should be carefully discussed. Besides the combination therapy of laser photocoagulation and anti‐VEGF drugs or intravitreally administered steroids may have potential in reducing the number of injections needed for treatment. On the other hand, advancements in laser treatment have led to the development of current laser settings that aim to minimize side effects, such as atrophic creep and the development of scotomata. Beside in taht course we will highlight the role of fluoresceine angiography in the process of qualification for laser therapy.
