Zusammenfassung:In Most of the rhetorical book, lost of points and debates are mentioned about Metaphor and its various forms. also, Metaphor is classified based on different views. one of the most controversial debates is allegory which is sometimes defined as compound Metaphor, figurative language or irony. In these books, these three topics are represented under the same definition for which there mentioned some common proofs. but, thinking deeply in these books and considering more details, the scope of each topic can be determined, therefore, more adequate definitions are obtained. In this study it is attempted to make a comparison between the definition of allegory which are mentioned in rhetorical books, while the differences and similarities of these definitions would be analyzed and criticized. fur theremore, the scope of the abovementioned items (Compound Metaphor, Figurative Language and Irony) will be determined so, they can be distinguished as much as possible. this can be result in providing more precise definitions for them and conducting a fair criticism of their proofs.
