Zusammenfassung: | Cysticercosis is an emerging parasitic disease affecting worldwide population. There is large volume of data present in the literature for neurocysticercosis. Tapeworm infections are common in developing countries where there is poor access to sanitation facilities and close interaction between humans and animals and where pigs are a major source of food. The isolated intramuscular involvement of cysticercosis is uncommon. Due to vague clinical presentation and unfamiliarity of clinicians with this entity, it is difficult to diagnose. The initial presentation mimics a soft tissue mass, but imaging arouses suspicion. Here, we report a case of Intramuscular Cysticercosis diagnosed by high resolution ultrasonography in a 25 year old male patient who presented with pain and swelling over the right forearm, without any associated neurological or ocular involvement. The patient responded well to the course of steroids and Albendazole with complete resolution of pain and swelling. |
