Zusammenfassung:This work analyzes the ideas and narratives of modern Criminology (about crime, its explanation, and its control) in the stories of the picaresque novels of the Spanish Literature Golden Age (Lazarillo, Guzmán de Alfarache, Buscón, etc.). For it, the relationship between picaresque and criminality is described. The main characteristics of rogues and ruffians are specified, as well as the presence of women in the picaresque. The central part of the analysis investigates the risk factors and explanations given in picaresque novels about the lives of their protagonists: personal dispositions, rational choice, criminal opportunities, family factors, learning... Finally, it provides attention to the punishment of rogues and their eventual desistance or abandonment of the rogue life.
