Zusammenfassung: | Globally, neuropsychiatric disorders account for 14% of the disease burden, emphasizing the need for preventive and curative approaches. Rasayana Chikitsa , particularly Ksheera ghrita , described in Charaka Samhita as the best Rasayana , plays a significant role. This study intends to explore and synthesize information about Ksheera Ghrita’s use in promotive, preventive, and therapeutic aspects of Manasaroga . Classical texts ( Brihatrayis and Laghutrayis ) and scientific databases (PubMed and Cochrane Library) were reviewed. Studies on the use of unprocessed Ghrita and Ksheera in Rasayana therapy and their potentiality in preventive, promotive, and therapeutic psychiatry were selected. Initially, their role in managing Manasa Vikara , such as Unmada , was analyzed. Contemporary research on milk and ghee’s biochemical properties, including their effects on the blood–brain barrier (BBB) and gut microbiome, was also considered, and the review was conducted. Oxidative stress, linked to various diseases, can be mitigated by antioxidants in milk and ghee. Both surpass the BBB, enhancing brain health and expressing their Rasayana properties. Regular consumption of Ksheera and Ghrita shows promise for improving cognition, memory, and mental well-being. While their potential to prevent and manage psychiatric disorders is supported by Ayurvedic and scientific perspectives, furthermore, research studies are needed to confirm their clinical efficacy. |
