Zusammenfassung: | Anthropology Day at Reese Library, Auga University, was a successful event that showcased the expansion of the anthropology program at the university. The Department of History, Anthropology, and Philosophy (HAP) hired a biological anthropology lecturer to teach new courses in the field. To celebrate these additions, the anthropology program partnered with Reese Library to host Anthropology Day, a global celebration of anthropology. Dr. Amanda Thompson from UNC-Chapel Hill was invited to speak about her research on nutrition and its intersection with public health. The library provided space for the lecture and interactive activities. In 2024, the library collaborated with the HAP Department again for Anthropology Day, featuring an exhibit, a lecture by Dr. Matthew Taylor, and a film screening. The library displayed panels from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History and showcased its anthropology collection. The event was well-received, with students earning extra credit and enjoying the exhibit-based scavenger hunt. The library also screened the documentary "Dawn of Humanity" and held a QA session. Overall, Anthropology Day at Reese Library was a successful and engaging event that highlighted the importance of anthropology in various disciplines. |
