Developing monolithic refractory materials for the specific conditions found in CFB boiler applications

CFB Boiler Industry has relatively unique Refractory Lining requirements. These applications deserve specific attention in their own right. This paper identifies some of the characteristics required by a CFB Boiler Monolithic Refractory Lining and describes some recent development work to design high performance materials capable of surviving in extremely abrasive environments, The development work has also focused on incorporating properties to assist efficient installation. The significance of good installation characteristics is reviewed relative to the requirements of modern installation techniques and with reference to some recent projects in particular.
