Zusammenfassung:An Indonesian soil fungus, Penicillium sp. BioMCC-f.T.5462 was cultured to identify compounds that show inhibitory activity against L-malate:quinone oxidoreductase of Plasmodium falciparum (PfMQO). Isolation of active compounds from the fungal extract was performed by sequential extraction and fractionation using column chromatography. The isolated active compound was identified as linoleic acid based on its UV profiles and other physicochemical characteristics compared to standard compound. We also proposed a dereplication technique for early detection of fatty acids in microbial extracts.
