Zusammenfassung: | We report a case of a 58 year old male patient who presented with a severe post coital headache. The patient was found to have a Subarachnoid hemorrhage. CT and diagnostic angiography revealed a left vertebral artery aneurysm which was treated by sacrificing the left vertebral artery with coil embolization proximal to the left posterior inferior cerebellar artery origin. The patient had an extended stay in the Neurologic Intensive Care unit for 36 days and was discharged to a rehabilitation facility. On 9 month follow up CTA imaging, it was identified that the patient developed ossification of the posterior atlanto‐axial membrane and capsular ligaments. On further questioning of the patient, he mentions lifestyle impairing episodes of uneasiness and discomfort with activities requiring neck extension. We continue to closely monitor the patient to ensure that there are no further degenerative changes at the joint which could result in cervical spinal canal stenosis or hypermobility and dislocation of the adjacent joints. |
