Is there an association between skeletal health and sympathetic nervous system activity in older adults?
Introduction: Animal studies suggest that elevated sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity has a negative impact on skeletal health. Elevated SNS activity has been observed during menopause and advancing age – periods of life associated with accelerated bone loss. Burst frequency (bursts/min), bur...

Zusammenfassung: | Introduction: Animal studies suggest that elevated sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activity has a negative impact on skeletal health. Elevated SNS activity has been observed during menopause and advancing age – periods of life associated with accelerated bone loss. Burst frequency (bursts/min), burst amplitude (μV), burst duration (%) and total burst area (μV*min) were compared between groups (low bone mass vs. normal) using independent sample T-tests. |
