Zusammenfassung:Range expansion of the rice bug,Leptocorisa chinensisDallas(Hemiptera: Alydidae), has been reported on Northern Honshu Island for several years, and its damage is of concern in the newly expanding area. The average daily maximum temperature in early February is known to affect overwintering of the species in coniferous forests. To investigateL. chinensisdistribution and factors affecting its abundance, we set sticky traps in paddy fields from 2019 to 2022 in Miyagi Prefecture, where the range expansion of the species is suspected. The effects of(a)distance from the forest(total forest, coniferous forest, and Japanese cedar forest stand),(b)forest area surrounding the sticky trap, and(c)number of possible overwintering times over the last decade on the number ofL. chinensisadults captured by the sticky trap were analyzed. We established expansion in the distribution ofL. chinensisto the northern area of Miyagi Prefecture, where it had not previously been captured. Furthermore, the distance from the Japanese cedar forest stand and the number of possible overwintering times significantly affected the number ofL. chinensiscaptured.
