Zusammenfassung: | The IBR-2M reactor is scheduled for decommissioning at end of the 2030s. We propose, after the reactor is decommissioned, not to create an absolutely new neutron source, which would require significant R&D efforts, but use instead effective technical solutions tested at other fast neutron nuclear facilities, for example, IBR-2, IBR-2M, MBIR, BOR-60, BN-1200, etc. This is a conceptual vision of a new source, the tentative name of which is IBR-4. The study based on calculations for the so-called basic setup of the IBR-4 considers the fundamental feasibility of implementing effective technical solutions. |
