Zusammenfassung:Usage-based approaches to language, which focus on "actual instances of language use, in their full phonetic detail and contextual understanding" (Ronald Langacker 2008, p. 81), have become increasingly popular and influential in applied linguistics, particularly in second language acquisition (SLA) research. This article aims to discuss the relevance of usage-based SLA for corpus-based language teaching and learning and to explore in what ways corpus-based approaches to teaching, such as data-driven learning, are supported by usage-based approaches to language and language acquisition.
