Zusammenfassung:The article discusses methodological approaches to the generation of long-term time series of water balance elements to assess and forecast river waters in the outlet section of a river catchment area. The study relies on the example of the Volga River basin. New approaches are proposed to determine difficult-to-measure water balance elements, such as evapotranspiration and changes in the basin soil moisture storage.
