Zusammenfassung: | In this paper, a liquid optical phase modulator modified from a cylindrical two-liquid electrowetting liquid lens is presented. A movable optical plane is constructed by fixing a transparent sheet between two immiscible liquids. By using the electrowetting effect to flatten the optical plane along the through-light direction, the length ratio of the two liquids in the through-light direction can be fine-tuned to modify the optical path to realize phase modulation. To validate this concept, we experimentally fabricated a prototype phase modulator and tested its phase modulation capability. Experiments show that the phase shift range can be up to 5.82 π and the phase shift accuracy can be up to λ/60, a drive time of 72 ms and a relaxation time of 34 ms within the range of applied voltage 40–80 V DC voltage. |
