Detection of vehicle over speed and number plate identification

Traffic accidents are among the sad events that cause great loss. In India, it has become a big problem because it has claimed the lives of innocent people. Road accident control has become an important task. One of the reasons behind the project is to prevent the increasing number of road accidents caused by speeding in prone areas. This study examines how we detect speeding vehicles and their license plate number. Vehicle speed detection and tracking contribute significantly to citizen safety by preventing many accidents. This module is essential in traffic monitoring, where traffic efficiency and citizen safety are the main concerns. In this study, we discuss possible ways to find a car, track its speed, and detect license plates. Various studies and research papers on speed detection were done before and can be found on the internet. The proposed approach broadly includes the steps such as plate contouring, finding date and time stamp, location detection, speed calculation, and reporting to the authorities. This paper aims to monitor the speed of vehicles to prevent accidents and reduce the impact in the event of an accident. This project proposes a modern and effective method for detecting and reporting illegal speeds.
