Zusammenfassung: | The present study investigated the degradation of methylene blue (MB) using a dielectric barrier discharge (DBD) plasma reactor. The reactor used models of a mesh-copper wire configuration and was generated by High Voltage Alternating Current. Some analysis parameters included the voltage variation from 4–8 kV and the air flowrate from 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, and 1 L/min. The results revealed that the reactor could produce the highest ozone concentration, precisely 432 ppm, at a voltage of 8 kV and a flow rate of 0.4 L/min for 5 minutes. Further, the ozone in this condition was used to degrade methylene blue (MB) solution. The effects of DBD plasma with variations in treatment time of 0, 5, 10, 15, and 30 minutes on pH and concentration of MB were evaluated using pH meter and UV-Visible spectrophotometer, respectively. Based on the experiment results, the efficiency of MB degradation was 61,84 % at 30 minutes of treatment. |
