Zusammenfassung:This research focuses on designing Delta-Sigma Modulator controlled switch-mode power supplies to mitigate in-band tones in the final output, leveraging the noise-shaping properties of Delta-Sigma modulation. A comparative framework is introduced, contrasting conventional Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) controllers with the proposed approach. The study unfolds in three phases: Firstly, a PWM controller-based DC-DC Buck converter is crafted to convert a 5V input to a 3.3V output operating at 5MHz, achieving the required noise level at the 43rd harmonic. Subsequently, a Delta-Sigma modulator-based design exhibits superior performance. In the second phase, modifications are made to the Delta-Sigma Modulator controlled switch-mode power supplies, reducing inductor values and integrating on-chip capacitors. Operating at a 200MHz sampling frequency, this design achieves a peak efficiency of 91% alongside improved noise performance. The final phase entails completing the layout of the Delta-Sigma Modulator controlled DC-DC Buck Converter, with post-layout simulations demonstrating its enhanced performance compared to PWM-controlled counterparts.
