Zusammenfassung:A review of historic mathematical, risk, and engineering science information was conducted to find the roots of the risk matrix. The objective was to locate and evaluate information surrounding its use. A three‐tiered (low, medium, high) system is historical, if not biologically programmed into human physiology. The Risk Matrix is a Likert preference system that has migrated into engineering and science. No testing or mathematical foundation was found.
