Zusammenfassung: | This invited reflection paper offers suggestions for early career researchers—both graduate students and new assistant professors—that are grounded in my own experiences during my quest to launch a research career. Topics include developing both topical and methodological expertise, identifying informal and formal mentors who have experience leading others toward research‐based careers, cultivating a network of colleagues capable of offering insights for improving one's research, and managing other responsibilities in ways that do not supplant productive research activities. Recommendations for graduate students and new assistant professors are offered throughout. |
