Comparing carbide, PCD, drill insert with HSS drill bit for thrust force in the drilling of Al6061/SiC/Al2O3 composite using Taguchi method

Zusammenfassung: | In this work, a comparison will be made between the carbide and PCD drill bits and the HSS drill bit with regard to the amount of thrust force generated during the drilling of an unique Al6061/SiC/ Al2O3 composite. Al6061/SiC/Al2O3 was the matrix combination that was used to create the specimen. The matrix composite is reinforced with varied weight percentages of elements that are added using the traditional stir casting method (Al6061-90 percent, SiC-5 percent, and Al2O3-5 percent). The experimental thrust force for HSS was measured at 649.29 N, while the thrust value for carbide was recorded as 488.83 N, and the thrust force for PCD was recorded as 477.76 N. When drilling an Al6061/SiC/ Al2O3 composite, the researchers found that PCD drill bits produced the least amount of thrust force compared to carbide and HSS bits. The study had certain drawbacks. |
