Analysis of incidence rate and ways of suicide among floating populationand registered population in Zhongshan

ObjectiveTo analyze the suicide case characteristics and the trends in suicide rates between the floating and registered population in Zhongshan city, so as to provide reference for the formulation of related intervention strategies. MethodsThe data of all death cases reported in Zhongshan from January 1, 2015 to December 31 2017 were collected from Death Cause Register Reporting System, and the selected cases were divided into the registered population group and floating population group. Then the suicide rate and suicide methods were compared between the two groups. ResultsThe suicide rate in Zhongshan from 2015 to 2017 was 4.03/100 000. The annual suicide rate was 3.61/100 000 in registered population group and 4.46/100 000 in floating population group. The suicide rate in both groups increased with age; the suicide rate among cases over 60 years old was higher in floating population group than in registered population group (34.94/100 000 vs. 6.83/100 000).
