Zusammenfassung:The Safe System Approach uses holistic and human-centered principles to reduce and prevent traffic deaths and injuries on our roads. The solutions recommended by this approach can be quite different from the traditional proposals from both roadway professionals and the general public, and require joint efforts from practitioners and the community. While considerable attention has been given to preparing roadway designers and operational personnel to implement Safe System improvements, less effort has been directed at ensuring that road users understand the need for the changes they may encounter such as roundabouts, narrowed lanes, and separated bike lanes. Fostering partnerships with various stakeholders through a proactive community engagement is of great importance to improving our roadway environment.
