Zusammenfassung:Geometry is a branch of mathematics that is very closely related to everyday life. It turns out that there are still many students who have difficulty in solving the given geometry problems, the geometric thinking level of junior high school students is mostly still at the visualization level. To overcome this, an ethnomathematical exploration was carried out at the Sultan Suriansyah mosque to obtain a draft question that would bring up students’ geometric thinking activities. Qualitative research was used in this study to explore the information needed to describe culture through literature review and observation so that geometric objects were found to be used as draft materials for geometry questions that gave rise to geometric thinking activities. Thinking activities that will be measured are visualization, construction, and reasoning. The Sultan Suriansyah Mosque in Banjarmasin is used as an object of research that will be explored for its ethnomathematics. The results of the exploration found four ornaments of the Sultan Suriansyah mosque, namely the mosaic of the court floor, the ornaments on the entrance door, the pulpit, and the fence of the courtyard which were used as material for drafting questions. The draft questions that are prepared still need to be tested to meet the “good” evaluation tool in measuring the geometric thinking activity of junior high school students.
