Zusammenfassung: | This article examines the past and current philosophies of music education based on the "music-education-is-aesthetic-education" model to offer clarification on the true aesthetic goals of music education. Through the use of Immanuel Kant's "Analytic of the Beautiful," the author insists that the goals of music education should be changed from teaching aesthetic evaluation, which cannot be done since pure aesthetic judgment is free from cognition, to the teaching, and judging, of the good and agreeable. Thus, the article suggests changing the goals of music education from teaching aesthetic evaluation to teaching appreciation. |
