Zusammenfassung:The essential oil of Myrtus communis L. leaves was extracted from the Beni-Ghobri forest in Yakouren, Tizi-Ouzou, Algeria and characterized using gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry. The essential oil had a yield of 0.3%, and contained α-Pinene, 1,8-Cineole, β-Caryophyllene, β-Cubebene, and Myrtenol as major components. The essential oil had a strong aroma of myrtle and demonstrated antimicrobial and antifungal activities.
