Zusammenfassung: | This study presents a comparative analysis of two computational models, namely the full combined refraction-diffraction Berkhoff and ARTEMIS models, against measurements taken in a controlled laboratory setting as part of the Dutch Government Public Works Department research program on "Coastal Research". The primary objective of this program is to develop an effective computational framework for analyzing and predicting wave propagation in areas with non-uniform water depth. The study investigates the combined refraction-diffraction of water waves using an idealized model through both experimental and numerical methods. The accuracy and practical applications of georeferencing the graphs from Berkhoff’s report are evaluated as a solution to the limitations and challenges encountered in accessing the results of either Berkhoff’s computational model or the measurements. The experimental investigation carried out in a hydraulic scale model serves as a benchmark for assessing the accuracy of the models. The outcomes of this work contribute to the advancement of effective computational techniques for analyzing and predicting wave propagation in areas with non-uniform water depth. |
