Zusammenfassung:Purpose of Review Asthma is a major public health problem in both the developed and developing world. Asthma is a complex heterogeneous disease with a multifactorial etiology involving genetic, epigenetic, viral, microbial and environmental exposures. Recent Findings New studies have provided significant novel information on the interplay between inherited and modifiable risk factors in the development of asthma, suggesting possible primary preventive measures. Summary Multi-faceted interventional strategies targeted to the personalized risk profile will likely be most effective in primary prevention of asthma.
