Zusammenfassung: | The use of a 9.6 kW RF generator as a power supply of the DECY-13 cyclotron acceleration system has been analyzed. The DECY-13 cyclotron was designed to accelerate H− particles using 40 kV RF acceleration voltage. However, the existing RF generator can only supply up to 9.6 kW. The analysis was performed by calculating the RF power requirement for supplying 40 kV acceleration voltage. An investigation is then carried out to see whether the existing RF generator can accelerate H− particles to several MeV by varying the cyclotron parameters using a SNOP particle tracking code. The simulation result shows that by changing the gap between the ion source and the puller, varying the magnetic field corresponding to the RF frequency, and the use of 9.6 kW RF power is still not able to accelerate the particles. Meanwhile, when the central region and the position of the ion source are modified by shifting their position radially towards the center, the particles are possible to be accelerated up to 5 MeV. |
