Some observation on the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of used bulb glass – Epoxy as insulator materials – Recycling materials

Used bulb glass in powder form of 50 µm grain size was mixed in a different weight percentage 2,4,6,8 respectively with epoxy resin. Discs of 8 cm diameter and 0.8 cm thickness were prepared in a hard shape. The thermal conductivity was tested for each combination showing that the maximum value of 0...

Zusammenfassung:Used bulb glass in powder form of 50 µm grain size was mixed in a different weight percentage 2,4,6,8 respectively with epoxy resin. Discs of 8 cm diameter and 0.8 cm thickness were prepared in a hard shape. The thermal conductivity was tested for each combination showing that the maximum value of 0.940 W/m.°c signed at the combination (Used Bulb Glass 8-Epoxy 2) Wt.%., and the mechanical properties representative by the hardness reflect the same behavior and recorded the maximum value of 87.650, the surface roughness follows the other values in the same manner with a maximum value of 1.242 µm. The increase in used bulb glass content shows that this increase will lead to improving the thermal and some mechanical properties of epoxy.
