Zusammenfassung: | Penile fracture is described as the traumatic rupture of the tunica albuginea of an erect penis and typically occurs when the erect penis is thrust against the symphysis pubis or perineum. Penile fractures are usually diagnosed from their classic clinical picture, which includes a popping sound from the penis during the injury that is followed by rapid detumescence, swelling, pain, and penile deformity. In the case of concomitant urinary symptoms, potential urethral injury should be evaluated. Penile fracture is a real urologic emergency, and prompt surgical intervention is the “gold standard” of therapy. Most patients can be diagnosed from the history and physical examination. However, radiologic studies such as cavernosography, urethrography, and MRI can be helpful in the diagnosis of unusual patients. |
