Unusually high abundance of the actiniarian Anemonia manjano Carlgren, 1900 outcompeting scleractinians in central Vietnam

The sea anemone occupied all types of substrata: rubble, sand, old dead corals within 1–6 m depth, and demonstrated clear overgrowth of live stony corals, with partial or total mortality of the latter (Fig. 1b–f). The size of A. manjano is rather small (column height 1–3 cm) and, in some rubble patches, its abundance reached 1000–2500 ind. m−2, with the approximate proportion of 3–10 ind. per fragment (8–10 cm long).
