Zusammenfassung:Two new species of Cardicola Short, 1953 (Aporocotylidae) are described from fishes from the Great Barrier Reef (GBR), Australia. Cardicola abu sp. n. infects the Whitley’s sergeant Abudefduf whitleyi Allen & Robertson (Pomacentridae), and is described from Wistari Reef of the Capricorn-Bunker Group, on the southern GBR. Cardicola yuelao sp. n. infects the halfmoon triggerfish Sufflamen chrysopterum Bloch & Schneider (Balistidae), and is described from off Lizard Island, on the far northern GBR. Morphological analysis and molecular phylogenetic analysis show both species agree with the concept of the genus Cardicola . Balistidae and Pomacentridae are new host families for Cardicola and for aporocotylids in general.
