Zusammenfassung: | The Lee model has been employed to investigate the nitrogen soft x-ray emission from a Mather-type dense plasma focus device with an elliptical anode head. The simulations have been performed for various values for the minor radius of the elliptical anode head. These values have been presented as a factor of the anode radius, i.e.

is the anode radius. The simulation results have shown that if the minor radius increases, then the soft x-ray yield increases. This increase was due to increase in the pinch temperature, the pinch column volume and the pinch lifetime. An increase in the other radial phases’ durations has also been seen due to the increase in the minor radius. The chamber inductance in the radial phases has also been increased by increasing the minor radius. The optimum pressures for the soft x-ray emission were different for various minor radii. |
