Zusammenfassung:A finite‐difference time‐domain (FDTD) method for modified Lorentz (mLor) media is proposed based on the order reduction of the governing differential equations. The introduced algorithm is verified in the benchmark problem of wave propagation through a thin slab. Several FDTD methods for the modeling of mLor media are also discussed and a numerical dispersion analysis is conducted. Comparisons in terms of accuracy and numerical simulations prove the validity of the schemes for the study of optics and photonic applications.
