Zusammenfassung: | The paper suggests that the anonymous translation of Xenophon’s Oeconomicus preserved in the ms. Vat. lat. 1069 could be that by Giovanni Aurispa, whose translation is mentioned by a contemporary source but is until now considered as lost. The paper investigates the Greek source of this humanistic translation. Finally, it analyses the entries for Xenophon’s Oecono- micus in the inventory of Aurispa’s books compiled in 1459 and proposes the identification of item 450 with the ms. Modena, Bibl. Estense Universitaria, α.W.9. 11. |
