Zusammenfassung:This study aims to analyze the effect of students’ cognitive style and learning motivation on the mathematical reasoning abilities of junior high school students. This research is a quantitative research with cause and effect research. This study involved 30 students who were randomly selected from Muhammadiyah 1 Kartasura Junior High School. The research instrument used PISA-oriented essay questions, questionnaires related to students’ learning motivation and the GEFT Test (Group Embedded Figure Test) to measure students’ cognitive style. Based on the results and discussions that have been described, in the research that has been carried out it can be concluded that (1) learning motivation does not have a significant impact on students’ mathematical reasoning abilities in solving PISA questions on space and shape, (2) students’ cognitive style, namely Field Dependent and Field Independent have a significant effect on students’ systematic reasoning ability in solving PISA problems. By giving students lots of PISA-oriented practice questions, it can improve students’ mathematical reasoning abilities.
