Zusammenfassung: | A demonstration that provides time-dependent data exemplifying Le Chatelier’s principle was created and tested in a classroom setting. The demonstration is safe and reliable and uses common lab glassware and only club soda to create the equilibrium reaction system. Real-time pressure versus time data is displayed during the demonstration allowing students to observe the pressure of carbon dioxide as the system is perturbed and then shifts to re-establish equilibrium. The demonstration is carried out using the predict-observe-explain model for greater pedagogical impact. |
