CAZADORES-RECOLECTORES TEMPRANOS EN LOS PASTIZALES PAMPEANOS DE ARGENTINA: UNA SÍNTESIS DEL POBLAMIENTO 1

The aim is to explain how was the dynamic of the peopling during the late Pleistocene and early Holocene by hunter-gatherer groups who occupied this landscape. To this end, we tackle and discuss various topics that has generated huge debates: the time of dispersion and environmental changes; colonization and occupation of space; subsistence patterns; technological practices; mobility and biological variation of human populations. Archaeological, paleoecological and genetic evidence indicates that human migration and colonization of the Pampas grasslands was a complex and heterogeneous process. The oldest data support an initial population of ~14,000 years ago cal BP, after the last maximum ice age.
