Zusammenfassung:An experiment is performed to observe photons of the isomeric transition of energy E is ≈ 8 eV in 229 m Th nuclei, obtained by eluting a hydrochloric acid solution from an ion-exchange column with 233 U. Thorium in the solution exists in the form of 4+ ions, and isomeric transitions are possible due to the emission of photons only. The attenuation of photon emission gives the half-life of the isomer: T 1/2 is ≈260 min.
