Zusammenfassung:Any mechanical device that involves relative motion between two things, such as the piston cylinder in an IC engine, ball mill units in cement plants and thermal plants, and slurry pumping machinery in thermal plants, or any mechanical system that involves relative motion. Friction and wear arise while such relative motion exists. These two variables influence the equipment’s performance and downtime, and in the worst-case situation, the machine will malfunction entirely. This study uses an experiment using the rubber wheel abrader to gain insight into the process of abrasive wear. Sand is suggested to be utilised to serve as an abrader. The worn surfaces were examined using scanning electron microscopy to comprehend the procedures that composes the material’s removal procedure effectively. The wear process is examined using the SEM micrographs of worn-out steel and cast-iron surfaces. Ni-Hard Cast Iron and CA-40 Steel are recommended for the research samples.
