Zusammenfassung: | Background: Whipple surgery, Pancreatoduodenectomy (PD), a surgery that is usually performed for periampullary cancer, and in which the head of the pancreas, the duodenum, the bile duct, gallbladder, and the antrum of the stomach is removed. The study was aimed to evaluate nurses’ roles regarding patients’ safety post whipple surgery. Research design: A descriptive design was used. Tool of data collection: A structured interview questionnaire and observational checklist were used to collect data. Setting: The study was conducted in postoperative intensive care unit in New Surgery Hospitals at Zagazig University Hospitals, Egypt. Study subjects: All available nurses working in the mentioned setting and their total number was 70 nurse Result: reveled that majority (85.0%) of studied nurse had unsatisfactory total knowledge regarding patient safety in intensive care units post whipple surgery. the most (92.9%) of studied nurse had satisfactory practice level regarding care of patients post whipple surgery, regarding to nurses attitude, more than half of studied nurses had positive attitude (51.4%). Conclusion: Most of studied nurse had unsatisfactory level of knowledge regarding care of patients post whipple surgery. Majority of studied nurse had satisfactory level of practice, studied nurses had positive attitude and there was non- statistically significant relation between total nurses' demographic characteristics and nurses' attitude, Recommendations: Training programs for all ICU nurses to improve their knowledge, practice and enhancing positive attitude regarding patient safety |
