Zusammenfassung: | Dental implants have become the most accepted dental treatment by the patients. With the advantages, complications are also common with dental treatments. The complications of implants can be classified as surgical, bone loss, soft tissue complications, esthetic complications, and lastly mechanical complications. Different implant components can get fractured due to improper loading and improper forces, with several other causes. The common mechanical complication is a fracture of abutment retaining screw, which holds abutment with the implant, and this challenging condition for the clinician to remove the fractured screw. This article explains the use of the instrument to remove the fractured screw part. The operator can easily remove the fractured fragment of the screw with this instrument from the apical portion of the implant screw hole. These instrument have a sharp, fork-shaped tip and long shank which can be attached to the contra-angle handpiece with slow speed. This instrument is modified from the shank of the bur, which is used for the alveloplasty. In between ultrasonic tip is used to create anti-rotation to the fragment, care should be taken not to damage the internal threads of the implant. This technique is cost-effective, saves time, can be used with any dental implant system. The modified bur can be of different diameters. Therefore, the removal of a fracture screw fragment can be made easy and simple with this instrument |
