Zusammenfassung: | Background: Insomnia is one of the most common issues faced by the physicians in their day-to-day practice, though present as a standalone rare issue or being accompanied by other psychological or physiological problem. Incidence of the problem is on a hike due increase in stressful lifestyle. Objective: The objective was to determine the prevalence of Insomnia & the factors leading to the causation of insomnia also to classify the prevalent cases of insomnia on the basis of severity & to determine the Quality of life in the prevalent insomnia case & to determine the Economic burden of the disease on the semi-rural population of Anantapur district of the state Andhra Pradesh. Materials & Methods: The study was carried out at Anantapur district nearby villages by random selection of the households. Investigator-reported via face-to-face interview of the sleep questionnaires Athens Insomnia scale (AIS), Insomnia severity index (ISI), Quality of life satisfaction & enjoyment short form (QLESQSF), face validated Risk factor questionnaire was administered to all adults (18-65years) with or without co-morbidity. Persons with major psychiatric illness, CNS stimulant drug abusers, sleep disorders other than insomnia were excluded from the survey. Results: AIS identified 61.89% prevalence of Insomnia.
