A STUDY TO ASSESS THE EFFECTIVENESS OF HELP ME GUIDE ON KNOWLEDGE REGARDING STEM CELL THERAPY AMONG NURSING OFFICERS IN SELECTED HOSPITAL, KANPUR, UTTAR PRADESH.

Stem cell therapy is a procedure to introduce the stem cells into the damage tissue to treat several diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson disease, diabetes, heart disease etc. Now a days there is a great interest in stem cell as it can replace the defective or damaged cells resulting from a various types of degenerative disorders. The present study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of “HELP ME GUIDE” on knowledge regarding stem cell therapy among nursing officers in selected hospital, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. The objectives of the study were to assess the level of knowledge, to evaluate the effectiveness of ‘HELP ME GUIDE’ on knowledge regarding stem cell therapy and to associate the pre-test knowledge with selected demographic variables. Quasi experimental design was used to assess the effectiveness of HELP ME GUIDE on knowledge regarding stem cell therapy. For this study 60 nursing officers were selected by using Non-probability Convenience Sampling technique. Data was collected by using self-structured knowledge questionnaire. Help Me Guide was provided after the pre-test and after 7 days post-test was conducted. The findings of this study revealed that, in pre-test52 had inadequate,7 had moderately adequateand 1 had adequate knowledge& in the post-test2had inadequate,27 had moderately adequate and 31 had adequate knowledge. The paired ‘t ‘ test valueis -15.5 which shows significant at the 0.05 level of significance. Chi-square test showed that there is significant association of pre-test knowledge with selected demographic variables. Hence the result has proved that ‘HELP ME GUIDE’ was effective in improving the knowledge of nursing officers on stem cell therapy.
